Instrument rating · IFR · KOGB
After private pilot, IFR is the rating that makes weather and cross-country flying useful. SEAS trains instrument under Part 61 at Orangeburg Municipal — pay as you go, syllabus-driven.
If you fly often, yes — skills are fresh. If months will pass, keep currency with VFR dual first so IFR hours are not spent relearning basic aircraft control.
Approved sim time can lower cost for procedures. SEAS uses airplane time for the skills that transfer to the checkride and real IMC — we will be explicit about what counts before you book.
Pay as you go per lesson (Rule 3). No prepaid instrument packs. Book when resources are live on the schedule.
